Unto These Hills outdoor drama takes place at Mountainside Theatre in Cherokee, NC. The address is 688 Drama Road.

Oconaluftee Indian Village is located at 228 Drama Road, Cherokee, NC, just past Mountainside Theatre. We recommend putting the Mountainside Theatre address into your
GPS and then following the signs from there.

Our theatre has a seating capacity of 2,100. Both general and reserved seating options have metal chairs with backings.

The doors open at 7:00pm. There is a pre-show performance at 7:30pm, and the main show starts at 8:00pm. There will be a 10-15 minute intermission around 9:00pm. The show runs approximately 2 hours.

The Village opens at 9:30 am and will begin tours every 15 minutes. The last tour starts at 4:30pm.

We do allow the use of umbrellas in the theatre. However, please be mindful of those sitting behind you. We also sell ponchos at our gift shop.

Remember, we are outdoors, so dress comfortably. A light jacket is recommended for Unto These Hills. Our attractions are open rain or shine, so bring a rain jacket or umbrella. For Oconaluftee Indian Village, comfortable walking shoes are recommended.

Except for service dogs assisting patrons with disabilities, pets are not permitted. Please note, during Unto These Hills there are loud noises, including gunshots, that may be upsetting to some service animals. There is also a gunshot during the Time of War performance at Oconaluftee Indian Village.

There is a wheelchair-accessible platform and ramp at the top of the house and wheelchair arrangements can be made in the egress aisle mid-house. For guests who are unable to navigate steps safely, we provide golf cart service down to the mid-level and will return you to the top of the house at the end of the performance. There are restrooms located on both levels of the amphitheater.

The trail in the Village is a natural dirt trail covered in mulch. There are a few inclines and declines throughout the tour. Unfortunately, it is not wheelchair accessible and may be difficult for those with mobility issues.

We have concession stands available at Unto These Hills and Oconaluftee Indian Village. We do not allow outside food or drinks.

Dinners will begin at 6:30 pm, so please be at the box office around 6:20 pm to check in. Our staff will direct you from there.

Tables and chairs have been assembled so that you may have a leisurely dinner in a covered area with family and friends until pre-show at 7:30 pm.

The Backstage tour will begin at the end of the show and will be announced on the public address system.

The lower loop going to Unto These Hills outdoor drama is staff parking and the upper loop is handicapped/mobility issue parking. General parking is in the lot located between Oconaluftee Indian Village and Mountainside Theatre. Our Parking Staff will greet you in front of the theatre and then direct you to the parking lot. Please alert the parking staff if you have a handicapped sticker/placard, or someone in your party has mobility issues.

There is plenty of parking for Oconaluftee Indian Village patrons in the village parking lot. Parking is free.

Mountainside Theatre has a curved amphitheater design with metal stadium seating. These seats do have backs so you can lean back and enjoy the show. Some patrons bring cushions to sit on and we also sell them in our retail area. The seating in the theatre is not covered so that the open sky will contribute to the telling of our story.

There are gift shops at both Oconaluftee Indian Village and Mountainside Theatre. Cherokee Historical Association also has a gift shop located downtown called Qualla Creations. We have a great selection of gifts that can accommodate any budget.

Patrons are welcome to take pictures without flash. If we find you are videotaping, we reserve the right to hold your camera or phone until the end of the performance.

Smoking or vaping of any kind is not permitted in the attractions. There are designated smoking areas outside the main entrances.

Yes, we do and would love to have your group. For more information please call (828) 497-2111 ext. 205 for pricing and availability. Groups are required to pay for their booking at least two weeks (10 Business Days) before their scheduled booking date. This will allow a more efficient check-in at the box offices.

No. You will need to visit Unto These hills on the specific day for which your ticket is booked. You may visit Oconaluftee Indian Village and the Museum of the Cherokee Indian on adjacent days.

Yes! We will gladly accept monetary and material donations. Cherokee Historical Association is a non-profit organization founded in 1949 to preserve Cherokee history and culture. Your donation will help us share Cherokee history and culture by telling the triumphant story of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians with the world.

All sales are final 2 weeks before your scheduled ticket date. If you are unable to visit Oconaluftee Indian Village or Unto These Hills outdoor drama due to an emergency or unforeseen circumstance, you may change your booking to a future date in that season or be issued a rain check to be used until the end of the following operating season.

Mother Nature is very unpredictable in Western North Carolina, and sometimes a sudden thunderstorm or lightning will occur. The safety of our valued patrons and employees is our top priority, therefore sometimes we must make the decision to cancel our show at Unto These Hills outdoor drama or our tours at Oconaluftee Indian Village. In the event of a cancellation, you will be issued a rain check. In the event of a cancellation for which there is no rescheduled date, a refund for this ticket will be determined on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of management. Unused tickets can become rain checks and are valid for entry until the end of the following operating season. Please contact the box office to rebook your tickets or be issued a rain check.
If it is raining lightly, then we will keep going and enjoy the added ambiance. We do offer a rain shelter at the top of house in case you would like to seek shelter.
