Meet the cast of the 2026 season of Unto These Hills outdoor drama. We have a lot of talented folks to introduce you to. Stay tuned to meet the many people it takes to bring the story of the Cherokee people to life each season.

Marilyn Squirrel

Unto These Hills youth company member, Marilyn Squirrel

Marilyn Squirrel is a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. She enjoys time at home with her family, talking on the phone with her friends, reading, and going on family vacations.

Marilyn and her little brother Theodore have been in the Youth Company of Unto These Hills outdoor drama for three seasons now. It’s been a pleasure to watch them grow up onstage!

Theodore Squirrel

Unto These Hills youth company member, Theodore Squirrel

Theodore Squirrel is an enrolled member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. He likes to play sports and play on his X-Box.

Theodore and his big sister Marilyn have been with us for three seasons now. We love fostering a love of theatre among our local youngsters.

Cooper Stamper

Unto These Hills youth company member, Cooper Stamper

Cooper Stamper is a 10-year-old enrolled member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. He enjoys going to concerts, making tasty drinks, and hanging out with his friends.

This is Cooper’s second season in the Youth Company of Unto These Hills outdoor drama. This season, in addition to acting in the youth ensemble, Cooper has understudied and gone on for Wasseton, Tsali’s youngest son. Cooper is a delight to work with, and we’re happy to have him!

Amiya Taylor

Unto These Hills cast member, Amiya Taylor

Amiya Taylor is an enrolled member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. She says that being in theatre has helped her grow in confidence, creativity, and self-expression, while giving her memories she treasures. Being on stage has taught her teamwork, dedication, and how to believe in herself. Amiya is grateful for the chance to share the story of the Cherokee people and show that our culture is still alive. She gives special thanks to her mom, family, friends, and Michael Yannette for all of their support, love, and guidance.

This is Amiya’s first season with Unto These Hills. She previously completed the Youth Mentorship Program at Oconaluftee Indian Village living history museum and has continued to work there as a tour guide and artisan. Amiya is in the ensemble and also an understudy. We’ve enjoyed having Amiya onstage this season and can’t wait to watch her continue to grow as an actor.

Cameron Taylor

Unto These Hills actor, Cameron Taylor

Cameron Taylor is from Lexington, Kentucky and is a proud graduate of Mary Baldwin University’s Shakespeare and Performance Program. He has worked with companies such as Treehouse Shakespeare Ensemble, Lexington Children’s Theatre, The Idaho Shakespeare Festival, The National Theatre for Children, The Warehouse Theatre, and Tecumseh. Some of his favorite credits include First Witch in Macbeth, Autolycus in The Winter’s Tale, Claudius and The Ghost in Hamlet, Ichabod Crane in Sleepy Hollow, Ferdinand and Others in The Duchess of Malfi, and Margalo and Others in Stuart Little.

This year is Cameron’s 7th season with Unto These Hills outdoor drama. This season he plays Hernando de Soto, the Constable, and President William Henry Harrison. He also understudies several other roles. Cameron is a multi-talented artist and an asset to the team. It’s also a delight to see Cameron

Cody Taylor

Unto These Hills actor, Cody Taylor

Cody Taylor is an actor, musician, and clown from Lexington, Kentucky. He holds a BFA in Physical Theatre from Coastal Carolina University, in association with the Accademia dell’Arte in Arezzo, Italy. Some of his favorite credits include Ebenezer Scrooge in the national tour of A Christmas Carol with Entertainment Central Productions, Into The Woods, Indecent, and Ragtime with American Stage, Rock of Ages, Jersey Boys, and Oliver with Palace Theatre, Million Dollar Quartet, Once, and Jersey Boys with Theatrezone, Narnia with West Virginia Public Theatre, Once with Red Mountain Theatre, and Urinetown and La Cage Aux Folles with Significant Productions.

Cody has worked with us for several years, starting in the ensemble in 2016. He currently plays Reverend Schermerhorn and Senator Webster. He also understudies several roles. In addition to acting, Cody is also on the pyrotechnics team. He helps ensure all of our exciting special effects happen accurately and safely. Cody has many talents, and we are always grateful to have him on the team. Fun fact: Cody’s twin brother, Cameron is also in the cast.

Tyler Teague

Unto These Hills cast member, Tyler Teague

Tyler Teague is from Texas and a graduate of College of the Mainland. He trains in several stage combat weapons through the Society of American Fight Directors and has worked on several short films. Tyler would like to thank Christina Crooks for all her love and support.

This is Tyler’s fourth season with Unto These Hills. He started as a soldier and ensemble member. This season, he plays the prospector Monk and the Drunken Soldier. He’s also a combatant, understudy, and a member of the pyrotechnics team. Tyler has many skills, a positive attitude, and is a pleasure to work with.

Erika Wachacha

Unto These Hills cast member, Erika Wachacha

Erika Wachacha is an enrolled member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. She has always been a fan of the arts and participated in choir, ensemble, and band throughout high school. She’s excited to be working with her siblings, Miranda Lopez and Taylor Wachacha.

Erika is an ensemble member in Unto These Hills. This is her first season with us. We’ve enjoyed getting to know her this year, and we’re happy to see her following in her siblings’ footsteps.

Taylor Wachacha

Unto These Hills actor, Taylor Wachacha

Taylor Wachacha is an enrolled member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians and a member of the Bird Clan. Outside of Unto These Hills, Taylor recently played Tawodi in the short Cherokee horror film “A Raven’s Call” by Mad Crab Productions, which is available on YouTube. He is excited to be working with his sisters, Miranda Lopez and Erika Wachahca.

Taylor has been acting with Unto These Hills for seven season. He has previously played Junaluska, Sequoyah, Elias Boudinot, White Path, and Kanega. It has been a joy to watch Taylor grow as an actor over the years, and we’ve enjoyed watching him play Tsali this season.

    Three of these were my students last year! Marilyn and Theodore (also my little cousins) and Cooper. I’m so proud of the time and dedication they put into this production. Amazing role models
